Environmental Education For Circular Economy And Sustainability – Good Practices In Poland

Abstract:

Progressive degradation of the natural environment caused by both nature and human activity  has increased the importance of environmental education, which has been indicated ast the strategic activity in the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the European Circular Economy (CE) Action Plan. The environmental education created the citizens' awareness of the state of the environment and encourages people to care for the common cultural and natural heritage. There are several examples of good practices how to implement the environmental education in the effective way to maintain long-term effects. Paper present the examples of the good practices of the environmental education in Poland, at early childhood, primary and secondary levels. Shaping ecological awareness through the environmental education requires various forms and methods. In the current paper, the practical classes, such as field trips, outdoor education camps, action "World Cleanup Day" and ecological workshops, are indicated as effective methods of building ecological awareness in Poland. It should be pointed that the coronavirus pandemic contributed to the complete transfer of the classes (both theoretical and practical) into a virtual forms. Therefore, there is a strong need to develop forms and methods of environmental education that could be effective conducted online.
