Abstract:
Construction is a sector of the economy featured by significant influence on the human’s natural environment. Buildings and non-building structures shape the environment and “consume” natural resources throughout their life cycle. Therefore, contractors of construction projects have to be sensitive to environmental problems. In the article, based on literature studies, it was pointed out that knowledge management in a construction company should clearly take into account the knowledge about environment. In the search for significant elements of such knowledge in construction companies, a survey was conducted among construction engineering and technical staff. The respondents indicated the subjective role of companies as crucial for creating their environmental knowledge, indicating a number of necessary individual skills. The research allowed to discover an environmental knowledge of construction companies useful in the life cycle of constructed buildings and non-building structures.
