Environmental Systems Analysis – Diversity of Tools and Multi-faceted Research Field

Abstract:

This paper explores the notion of environmental systems analysis. The most widespread tools that can be applied to environmental systems analysis were identified and characterized to determine their appropriateness in different situations (i.e. study object, impacts considered). Moreover, the typology and specificity of scenarios of the future which are crucial elements in tools for environmental systems analysis were presented. In particular, comprehensive bibliometric analysis of scientific literature on environmental systems analysis was performed. This made it possible to identify the most influential channels and the most important topics in the domain under analysis as well as to analyze how the publications covering extensive field of environmental systems analysis are clustered and how the scientific collaboration has been developed within this research area so far..
