Abstract:

The world we live in is undergoing such tremendous changes, and the rate of urban growth has reached unprecedented proportions. Back at the beginning of the 19th century, less than 1% of the population lived in cities. Within a century, the percentage had risen to 13%, and by the turn of the century it had reached 47%. It is expected to reach 68% by 2050.
