Abstract:

The paper observes the awareness of Russians about its main trade partner - the EU states. For this goal a bibliometric study was conducted, covering review of articles in the leading Russian business newspapers and academic publications in journals, cited by Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI); educational programs in the top Russian universities. The results indicate small attention to purely economic patterns of cooperation between the countries while exaggerated focus on political and energy issues. In most cases Russians have limited access to data and trusted publications in Russian language which covers topics of intra-EU trade and economic cooperation as well as EU-Russia trade. Some advice on improvement to educational and governmental bodies is suggested.
