Evaluation of Supply Chain Agility Based on Balanced Scorecard Model (Using NAIADE and Q-Sort Technique)

Abstract:

The importance of being agile is laid in its focus on managing uncertainties which brings success for manufacturing industries in a volatile market. Moreover, coping with short life cycle of product and need to response quickly to demand make supply chain to be agile. This increases probability of supply chain success in responding quickly to market changes. Although the importance of agility in supply chain has been known, organizations are not aware of the part of organization’s activities that operates good at enhancing supply chain agility or even the parts which act weak in gaining benefits from agile supply chain. In other word, preceding studies put emphasize on the level of supply chain agility but there is lack of model which illustrates level of agility in supply chain. We developed a model based on balanced scorecard and agility measures to assess agility of supply chain level in each approach of balanced scorecard model. The research had been carried out in one of Iranian cement manufacturing and its subsidiaries. After identifying proper supply chain agility measures for each balanced scorecard approach via Q-Sort Technique, the subsidiary companies ranked through NAIADE technique considering balanced scorecard model and supply chain agility measures. “Shomal Cement Organization” had the most agile supply chain among selected list of organizations and the least agile supply chain subsidiaries of CIDCO Holding was “Ghaen Cement Organization” This study contributed in identifying supply chain agility measures and integration of these measures with balanced scorecard model.
