Evolution in Expectations regarding the Competences of Graduates of Polish Economics Universities in the Era of Digital Transformation

Abstract:

The study presents the author’s own model of graduate competences adapted to the needs of education in the curricular of economics programmes in Poland. The model illustrates the evolution in the requirements expected of graduates during the current digital transformation. Trends shaping the global economy, such as Industry 4.0, digitization, robotization, automation, and the extensive use of IT, have been recognized as key factors of change affecting the competences required of graduates in the workplace. From the author’s own observations, the principal area where requirements regarding graduates' competence are expected to evolve is soft skills. According to the respondents, this type of competence will increase in importance in the near future.
