Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to present and assess the current situation of Romanian modern payment systems in the context of European integration and to identify some empirical factors who conducted to the existing situation. Romanians have joined in large number to internet banking services, especially attracted by the opportunity to pay bills. Banks say that the possibility of paying bills was the engine in development of the Internet banking service, both to the retail and corporate customers. Switching the modality of paying from the counter to internet transactions was made mainly for reasons of cost, in case of companies and to save time in case of individuals. Often, clients are afraid of confidentiality and security of online services. The information security in the context of e-banking site is analyzed for the both sides involved in the transaction: on the one hand the bank itself and its connectivity with other banks and on the other hand the clients.
