Abstract:
This paper aimed to analyse the evolution of the Romanian trade with agro-food products in the last decade. Romania was a net importing country for almost all this period, with few exceptions in 2013 and 2014 when the trade balance with agro-food products was positive. The Romanian trade with agro-food products had an upward trend between 2010 and 2019, but the deficit increased up to 1,394,099 thousand US $ in 2019. During the 2010-2019 period, Romania recorded surpluses only for 6 out of the 24 groups of marketed agricultural products: cereals; oil seeds and fruits; tobacco; live animals; animals or vegetable fats and oils; and vegetable plaiting materials. The deficit was significant mainly for the meat group, for which Romania made significant imports. The paper is based on specific trade indicators, and used data provided by International Trade Centre.
