Expert and Novice Evaluations for Business Presentations: A Case Study of Peer and Faculty Grades in a Presentation Based Business Assessment

Abstract:

During the 2010-2011academic year multiple sections of campus business studentsparticipated in the ‘Current Issues Forum’ (CIF), a graded learning activity. The students were first year business students who utilized trade show style information booths to educate the college community on current issues in business for economies around the globe. This research was conducted to determine if there were consistent differentials, or patterns in the peer grading that could be utilized to further understand the potential impact on student grades with the use of peer evaluations in this type of interactive assessment activity.
