Exploring Climate Resilience in Luxury Real Estate Development with Integrating Sustainable Practices and Assessing Real-world Impact. A Qualitative Approach

Abstract:

This research explores luxury real estate and its growing commitment to sustainable practices in response to the global climate crisis. Traditionally associated with exclusivity, luxury real estate embraces climate-conscious strategies to develop eco-friendly urban spaces. Moreover, developers are now pioneering vertical green cities, incorporating rooftop gardens and sustainable materials to reduce energy consumption and promote biodiversity in dense urban settings. Furthermore, in responding to rising consumer demand, developers incorporate aesthetic appeal with environmental responsibility, attracting wealthy clients who value eco-friendly living for its environmental and financial benefits, such as reduced energy costs and improved property value. In this study, the authors explore how luxury developments can reduce carbon footprints while maintaining appeal. Do efforts impact more comprehensive urban planning or remain niche? Therefore, the authors intend to reveal the effectiveness of sustainable practices in luxury real estate, assessing their real-world impact on carbon reduction, resource preservation, and urban biodiversity. The authors used a qualitative method with the interviews. The interviews were grounded in a literature review to demonstrate trustworthy results and add reliability. Besides, the authors acknowledge limitations such as potential self-report bias. The results offer insights into luxury real estate to redefine urban living through sustainable innovations and support the global movement toward net-zero emissions and climate-resilient cities.
