Abstract:

With the advances in technology, the engineering assets in organizations have grown in complexity and sophistication. The use of information technology, deployment of information systems and collection and handling of data with the objective of achieving optimum utilization of engineering assets has also increased rapidly. This paper looks at the unique nature of engineering asset data, develops understanding of nature of data quality problems and then further develops taxonomy of data quality problems that are valuable for any attempt at improving data quality.
