Exploring the Link between Management Succession Execution and Dynamic Capabilities in Nigeria

Abstract:

This study focuses on the effect of succession executon processes on dynamic capabilities within selected money deposit banks in Nigeria. By carrying out a multiple linear regression on the responses derived from a sample of 362 respondents across 5 banks, our evidence shows that mentoring, executive development and top management support (pointers to succession executon) all have significant effects on the  development of strength and resources (dynamic capabilities).Although this study is limited to the banking sector, it suggests that top management staff should give full support to re-channeling strength and resources during organizational transition periods. Additionally, considerable time should be spent on mentoring and executive development at all levels of an organization, as this helps guide against organizational disruptions during turbulent business periods.
