Exploring the mediating effects of inspirational motivation and intellectual stimulation on creativity. A case study of Romanian employees

Abstract:

This article focuses on the implications that two dimensions of transformational leadership, more specifically inspirational motivation and intellectual stimulation, have on employee creativity in the context of the present global pandemic. These two variables were selected due to their direct influence in employee motivation and active implication in organizational long-term sustainability. We consider that the effects of the pandemic and the necessity to work from home in the case of a large number of employees have led to problems regarding adaptability and work efficiency, and for these reasons the study wishes to provide a better understanding of employee behavior and of what it takes to support individuals in terms of creativity and innovation. The answers of 60 respondents were analyzed and the findings led to the conclusion that inspirational motivation and intellectual motivation are strong influencers of employee creativity. At the same time we noticed that creativity is necessary in the majority of respondents and as a consequence they consider their work as productive for the organization.
