EXsilviAK: An Accounting Knowledge-Based Expert System Prototype

Abstract:

Our research was conducted in order to draw initial work directions to designing and developing an intelligent system, accounting knowledge-based, forest decision support. We want to initiate a practical approach to creating sustainable knowledge in forestry accounting, based on tools offered by intelligent systems.

Goals that we have considered are:

 1. modeling of intelligent systems integration with accounting applications;
 2. detailing the development methodology of an intelligent system prototype,  forestry accounting support;
 3. drawing the circle of accounting implications on intelligent systems development.

This study is based on modeling method. We present in this paper an intelligent system prototype, named ExsilviAK, its execution stategy and phases of its development. The system was realized in order to obtain simulation of forestry accountant reasoning, when he tries to solve complex problems. Romanian accounting knowledge held by experienced professionals in forestry or  accounting, was acquired and stored in a knowledge base, which includes concepts, procedures, explanations, recommendations, documents and regulations in order to provide support to decision optimization in forestry economic processes.

The results of this study will assist researchers in the following areas: applied forestry accounting, intelligent decision support solutions, forest management, information technology management, knowledge management.

Our study is useful for intelligent solutions developers and, also, for managers from forestry, given the detailed presentation of new discoveries in their field of interest.
