Abstract:
Introduction. Physical activity is of the greatest importance in the lives of people of all ages; supporting the proper upbringing of young people, slowdown of ageing processes and modern diseases such as obesity. Healthy parental lifestyle influences the behaviour of their children. Aim. The aim of the study was to assess recreational behaviour of secondary school pupils and their parents while investigating whether parental physical activity is proportional to their children’s. Results. The results of the survey confirmed that a significant part of young people do not participate regularly in recreational activities outside of school. Pupils are more active if their parents were active in the past or are active now. Conclusion. Health promotion is a necessity among young people. However, it is more significant for their parents because subsequently they pass such healthy habits to their children.
