Leadership In the Evolutionary Aspect

Abstract:

Leadership is a complex, multidimensional phenomena. In the book by DePree (1989). In a research study by Bombała (2016) leadership is both a process and a quality. As a process, it consists in influencing the participants of the organization without resorting to coercive measures. As a quality, leadership is a set of qualities attributed to individuals who are perceived as leaders. Within the sciences (for example, management), many theories of leadership have been developed. Some of them are worthwhile propositions, while others are referred to as short-lived fashion, which quickly loses its ability to attract the interest of researchers. Miller, Hartwick, Breton-Miller Le (2004) mentioned. The paper type is it a qualitative study.

The aim of the article is to describe the directions of leadership development in an evolutionary perspective.

To achieve the goal, the method of description and critical analysis of the material obtained as a result of studies of the literature on the subject was used. The sequence of the paper is as follows: Leadership by Max Weber, Fiedler ,  Hogan, Curphy, Hogan, Hersey and Blanchard's theory of leadership, Leadership by Vroom and Yetton, MacGregor Burns' proposal, Leadership articulated by Stephen Covey, Bass's leadership concept, Leadership articulated by Maxwell, Leadership by other researchers, Contemporary leadership research and conclusion. Expected results: describing the theoretical and empirical material related to the leadership phenomenon. The time includes research in the years 1969-2020.
