Factors Affecting Entrepreneurial Intention among Young Adults

Abstract:

Entrepreneurship development is important since it can benefit a nation’s economic and social wellbeing. Due to that governments encourage entrepreneurial activities. This study’s objective is to determine the factors affecting entrepreneurial intention among young adults in Malaysia. The factors studied are risk taking, entrepreneurial education, subjective norm and perceived behavioural control. Around 150 respondents contributed to the study. The sampling method used is purposive sampling. Multiple regression analysis is used to analyse the data collected. It is found that entrepreneurial education, subjective norm and perceived behavioural control affects entrepreneurial intention. Therefore, the governments and other relevant parties should put importance in these factors to develop entrepreneurship in Malaysia. Continuious upgrading the curriculum of entrepreneurial education is very critical as a tool for entrepreneurship development.
