Factors Affecting the Implementation and Diffusion of E-Government

Abstract:

Governments should start to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of their services provided to their citizens. Accordingly, they should adopt e-service into their transactions. Many factors can play a significant role in this adoption. The purpose of this paper is to investigate factors affecting the implementation and diffusion of e-government. Such factors either have a positive effect on the implementation or a negative one. A model suggested by Weerakkody et al. (2011) is adopted in this study to discuss factors that affect the implementation process of e-government. Factors of implementation were classified into four main themes. Those themes are political, social, technological, and organizational. It has been argued that government should take each factor in every theme into consideration when it wants to successfully implement e-government. Furthermore, such factors which play a positive role in the implementation process should be taken seriously, whereas government should eliminate the effect of those which negatively affect the success of the implementation process.
