Factors Influencing Regional Labour Market Diversity in Poland

Abstract:

The variation in the development potential of individual provinces in Poland is the result of a complex interplay of geographical, infrastructural, social, economic and historical factors. Effective management of development processes at regional level requires a comprehensive approach that takes into account endogenous conditions and the specific characteristics of individual territorial units. A key element of regional policy should be the strengthening of human capital, the intensification of infrastructure investment, the stimulation of innovation, and the promotion of the principles of sustainable development. These measures can help to reduce spatial disparities and build a more harmonised economic structure for the country. However, development processes in Poland’s regions may be hampered by labour market factors. Labour shortages may be a key issue in this context, as they will directly limit modernisation processes based on increased investment or innovation.

The aim of this article is to identify the factors determining regional labour market disparities in Poland. The analysis will examine their significance and the extent to which they influence the development potential of Polish regions through the labour market. It is assumed that access to labour resources is one of the most significant factors that change the potential of provinces.
