Factors that shape innovation activity in SMEs

Abstract:

For many years, innovation and entrepreneurship have been perceived as the key source of economic development and increasing competitiveness and productivity. The small and medium-sized enterprise sector is regarded in Poland as one of the key sectors that affect the functioning of the country’s economy. At the same time, it is observed that the sector lacks innovation activity. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper is to identify the relationship between factors that condition innovation, such as: form of innovation activity, type of innovations introduced and purpose of introducing innovations. The survey was conducted on a sample of 242 SMEs. The results show a positive correlation between the analysed variables in the surveyed enterprises.
