Female Entrepreneurship and Smart Specialisation Policy – Critical Review and Theoretical Framework

Abstract:

The chapter characterises determinants for entrepreneurship, as well as innovative activities of women in the context of the new policy towards innovation development. The role of women in introducing innovation and the policies of intelligent specialisation have been well researched and described but the two topics have been analysed separately.

As a result, the knowledge on the policies of smart specialisations and their influence on activating women’s entrepreneurship and innovation is limited. Nevertheless, such knowledge is necessary and should be presented as widely as possible. Another part of the publication aims at closing the knowledge gap in the subject through indicating the ways of stimulating and influencing the environment where women are professionally active. Some solutions for the policies of smart specialisations, which focus on bolstering women's role in regional economies, have been presented.
