Abstract:
This paper addresses the impact of globalization to the international migration of labour force. International migration involves more than movement of labour inputs across borders. In this context it is important to analyse the determinants and motivation of international migration within the actual context. This work outlines that the expected income differences, the expected probability of finding employment abroad and the expected quality of life at home play a strong role in many cases for migration but a role tempered by the influence of numerous other variables. EU accession also played an important role in the pattern of the migration flows. We analyse the Romanian situation by describing the migration determinants, motivation, effects on leaving and receiving countries.
