Abstract:

Higher Education Commission (HEC) has been established in 2002, and since then various standards have been introduced, which are implemented in all Pakistani Universities.  Government of Pakistan played a vital role for the establishment of HEC and drastically  increase its budget to support the development projects for universities and degree awarding institutions. In view of the change of paradigm, HEC’s work load increased tremendously and it was observed that organization started facing problems in tracking the files. On average HEC have 7000-10000 live files in process. To keep track of each file is tedious task; therefore HEC-IT department has developed File Tracking System, which was incorporated in July 2007. In the beginning, employees were afraid of using the system, because they felt, they might lose the file and forward the file to wrong department, and may be system will be not user friendly. The system is one year old, even those who have very little knowledge of computers can operate and track files very easily.  The author have provided in this research paper, how e-learning tool benefited the HEC employees to handle the files in a manner to track the file on their PC and as well to calculate the total time for processing of each file as well.
