Financial Literacy and Portfolio Diversification: An Evidence of Growth Factor of Postgraduate Student at Covenant University

Abstract:

Individual investment program has gained more recognition in all major economies in recent years; Financiers are progressively more in control of their specific financial stability. The aim of this study is to examine how financial literacy and portfolio diversification affects the growth factor of postgraduate student at covenant university. The study made use of qualitative research design and survey method in investigating the effect on portfolio diversification on the value of financial literacy of investors behaving.  A structured survey research questions was used as the instrument for data collection which was distributed to70 respondents who filled them appropriately. Correlation and regression analysis was used in analyzing the data. The results shows that financial literacy of individuals has an effect on portfolio diversification. The study concludes that lack of literacy on portfolios or the likehood of investment negatively influences the diversification of portfolios. Lastly, the study recommends for the advocation for continuing education programs that examine investors' financial philosophy and understanding and their ability to achieve, spread their portfolios, and make balanced decisions.
