Abstract:
Micro and small enterprises [MSEs] foster 56% of jobs worldwide, however, they present problems as a result of the accelerated pace of changing market trends, which directly impacts the sustainability of micro and small enterprises. The objective of the present research is to systematize the evidence of financial management strategies in micro and small enterprises, written in the scientific literature between the years 2018 - 2023. The methodology used was under the guidelines of the Prisma Declaration; as inclusion criteria, open access articles were used, published in journals, whose publication status is final, from any country, in English and Spanish language; the databases used were Scopus, Ebsco, Web of Science, Proquest and Science Direct, which systematized twenty-six articles. The most representative results show that 12 of the articles highlight the importance of establishing an adequate financial management strategy to make better financial decisions for MSEs to achieve sustainability and transcendence; and that 5 of the articles explain that financial management strategies should focus on investment, capital structure, profitability, working capital, and cash flow. Finally, it is concluded that financial management strategies are fundamental for the development of MSEs, which implies their growth, sustainability, and evolution.
