Abstract:
Rental housing, alongside with ownership housing belong to basic forms of housing in all EU Member States. Low labour mobility in Slovakia is also related to the structure of use of the housing stock, which is significantly dominated by owner-occupied housing, while the tenant residential sector compared to the developed countries of Europe is significantly undersized. The aim of this paper is to name the determinants of the development of rental housing in Slovakia. Those are primarily economic instruments, the creator of which is the state.
