Abstract:
This study aims to identify the success factosr of food security policy in Tangkak, an agricultural land situated in northen Johor. In general, population growth, global warming, the issue of food shortage has caused the food crisis in many countries in the world. These issues could begin to converge to have significant impacts in short period. As the population grows, there will also an increase in food demand and indirectly increase risks of security threats and vulnerabilities such as food contamination. Similar trend happened in Malaysia where trends in food demand had increase. Considering the needs of the nation, agricultural production such as paddy, fruits and vegetables can help in maintaining the stock, the Institute for Innovation Strategic Johor (IISJ) Plan, the government is focussing on developing Tangkak as the main producer for agricultural products. Understanding the issues in food and agricultural policies which influenced the effectiveness of food security policy, extensive literature has been reviewed to classify the factors that affecting the effectiveness of food security policy.
