Formation of Human Potential of the Region in the Conditions of Demographic Crisis (On the Example of Regions of Ukraine)

Abstract:

A number of global problems and crises that have engulfed the world community, associated with intense globalization, bring to the forefront human quality and overall human potential. As human potential is based on the population, it is timely and relevant to research its formation in a demographic crisis, which is gaining momentum in many regions and countries, affects on the formation of human potential, its ability to withstand crisis challenges, creates a number of socio-economic problems and troubles. Such countries include Ukraine, whose demographic problems, like most post-Soviet countries, are surprisingly acute. This publication embodies an attempt to identify key features of the formation of human potential in the region in a demographic crisis. To achieve this research goal based on the analysis of scientific sources to determine the content of human potential as a component of the integrated potential of the territory, its components, demographic basis; based on the analysis of official statistics using factor analysis to establish the spatial features of demographic processes and structures of regions of Ukraine as factors in the formation of human potential, to consider and compare the main demographic trends of different regions of Ukraine. The authors consider the general features and peculiarities of the content of the concept of human potential from the standpoint of different sciences, substantiate its understanding as a component of the integral potential of the territory; features of formation of human potential of the region in the conditions of demographic crisis are considered. Using factor analysis, the authors analyzed the factors influencing on the formation of human potential in terms of regions of Ukraine. As an example, the article analyzes the features of the formation of human potential of two very different and very significant regions of Ukraine: Volynska and Kharkivska oblasts.
