The Most Frequently Used Social Network Sites in Travel and Tourism – A Czech Case Study

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to explore the most frequently used social network sites (SNSs) in travel and tourism by young Czech adults. The methods used in this article include a literature review in the acknowledged databases Web of Science, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Springer, and a case study which focuses on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the most frequently used SNSs by young university generation in the Czech Republic, more specifically, at the Faculty of Informatics and Management, University of Hradec Kralove. The findings show that the most popular SNSs are still general SNSs: Facebook and Twitter. As far as the field of travel and tourism is concerned, it is TripAdvisor, followed by Couchsurfing, Airbnb.com, and Booking.com.
