From Eat More to Eat Less: The Dynamics of Bread and Bakery Products At The Eu Level

Abstract:

Basing on the world wild population growth in the last decade and a half, with more than a billion people and on the importance played by the Common Agricultural Policy at the European Union level, created so that the people could enjoy good food at affordable prices and farmers can earn a fair living,  our study purposes to analyze the dynamics of the bread and bakery products manufacturing at the level of EU, starting with the year 2002 and ending with 2012, basing on the increasing demand of the market. In order to fulfill our study, we will base our analyze on two main indicators: production, by product category, share of major EU countries on total production and on the turnover of food businesses of bakery products. In both cases we encounter three major producing countries: Italy, Germany and United Kingdom, countries that represent almost 50% of the total production of the market and by adding France, we obtain a turnover of almost 70% at the level of EU.
