Function Value Analysis in Forestry Practice

Abstract:

The concept of value management has been developed in order to identify the best functions to minimize production costs by comparing alternative productions and products. The article presents the results of the application of the function value analysis method in forestry in the study of forest reproduction processes. The unsatisfactory state of reforestation processes in Russia is due to the shortage of planting material and the quality of forest seedlings cultivated in forest selection and seed centers. The application of value management method has made it possible to establish "problematic" functions in the technology of growing forest seedlings, largely related to preparatory work. As a result of the carried out researches, the expediency of seedlings growing according to the system of two rotations in conditions of the FSSC has been revealed. It is established that the application of function value analysis in forestry is justified when justifying innovative projects and when moving to the release of new products. The introduction of functional and cost analysis into the practice of the FSSC ensures cost reduction while improving the quality of growing forest seedlings. Along with achieved positive results, introduction of this method is associated with certain difficulties: need for special training of managers and high labor input.
