Functional Features of Territories with Special Legal Status in Developed and Developing Countries

Abstract:

Territories with special legal status (especially free (special) economic zones) are integral parts of national economies as well as world economy. Use of such territories is aimed at creation of favorable business environment, attraction of investments, and creation of economic growth zones. However, such territories became drivers of general economic development in some countries but fell short of expectations and stimulated only local economic entities in other countries.
