Abstract:
Having the right competencies in the manager's and engineer’s work is crucial for a dynamic development of personal carrier and obtaining significant competitive advantage. This paper attempts to answer the following question: what competencies seem necessary for future managers and engineers in the automotive industry? The catalogue of future competencies mainly consists of technical, managerial and social skills. Already at the stage of looking for a job, the level of individual competencies can be a kind of “sieve”. It is especially true for the automotive industry that only the candidates manifesting strongly developed managerial and technical abilities will succeed in the recruitment process. However, at later stages of their carriers, it is social competence that may guarantee the professional success.
