GIS Technology Implementation in Ecological Footprint Analysis for Management of Sustainable Transmigration Development

Abstract:

The implementation of development policies in the field of transmigration as an integral part in accelerating economic equality and development in Indonesia has actually been implemented since the era of Dutch colonialism in Indonesia, and is known as "colonization" which was later adopted by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia as "transmigration". This research was conducted to implement technology in the field of territorial analysis in a series of geographic information systems (GIS) as part of knowing the condition of the ecological footprint in developing transmigration settlement locations synchronized with forest conservation policies. Data collection methods used in this study are by conducting literature reviews on documents from the results of transmigration development and implementation of placement with enrichment of literature related to the implementation of transmigration programs in the form of thematic geospatial information (IGT) / thematic maps, forest management, utilization of information system technology geographical and related scientific works. The steps of data analysis are carried out by making spatial analysis by overlaying the thematic geospatial information data from the distribution of transmigration sites as well as forest and water areas. The results showed that there was an implementation of transmigration settlement development policy that was not in accordance with the rules because it was inside a forest area, thus triggering an opportunity to increase the ecological footprint of the Transmigrant community from the aspect of exploitation of the forestry sector.
