Abstract:
It is essential for a country to be able to validate travellers efficiently when entering and leaving the country. In this research, the idea of Cloud Passport, which uses the latest technologies to replace physical passports, was studied. A survey was conducted in February 2017 at Australian adult Facebook users asking social attitudes to cloud passports. Results showed a 70% acceptance level. Some 75% of respondents thought such passports would be available worldwide in the next 10 to 20 years. A textual analysis of feedback from the survey discovered certain drivers and barriers to cloud passport implementation. The observations from the surveys formed a view of the social opinions of selected Australians, which may help for a successful roll-out of cloud passports in Australia in the future.
