Abstract:
In the current world context, our surrounding fragile environment is subject to an amplifier factor – the crisis. In this context, in the authors’ opinion, green strategies (combined with anti-poverty and other social and cultural policies) are the answer for a sustainable future of us all. In order to demonstrate the current position Romania holds internationally (from both a globalisation and environmental perspective), we will begin with a theoretical and conceptual overview from the academic literature. Further on, to demonstrate practical effects, we will analyse in comparison two global indicators: the KOF index of globalisation and the Environmental Performance Index (EPI). The findings of the analysis are expected to shed light on recommendations for strategies that can be put in place for the following period. The article ends with conclusions based on both the conceptual and practical aspects of globalisation and sustainable development.
