Graphical Representation of Multivariate Data (AGraFO), Adapted to the Portuguese Furniture Industry

Abstract:

The purpose of this work develops and tests an adaptation of the multivariate graphical data representation model – AGraFO, with the goal to classify a company as being, or not, SME Excellence, throughout the graphic representation of a set of six economic and financial ratios. In addition, it is intended to verify if the emotion shown by the AGraFO for the companies that have the SME Excellence status is similar for all of them and if the AGraFO helps in the analysis of trends until the company acquires the SME Excellence status. The construction of the model it is based on the projection of the set of ratios on the facial elements, in order to obtain the graphic characterization of a male human face. The results proved to be good, from this adaptation it was possible to classify a company as being, or not, SME Excellence. We conclude, throughout the graphical representation of several faces, that the emotions transmitted by the model of adapted graphical representation are similar, for the companies that have the SME Excellence status. This model contributes significantly to trend analysis. It was also possible to conclude that the Portuguese furniture industry, on average, is far from excellence.
