Abstract:

The paper illustrates the personal characteristics and the performances in terms of patent quality of key inventors in the IT hardware industry, defined as those inventors who have produced more than 10 patents. A gender gap is observed, with a much lower percentage of women within inventors. Higher education and scientific background of key inventors turn into better patents in terms of scientific contents and market value.
