Green Intellectual Capital and Business Sustainability: An Empirical Study of Manufacturing Sector in Malaysia

Abstract:

Recently, Green Intellectual Capital (GIC) and Business Sustainability (BS) have been showing a growing interest and an emerging topic among academic researchers and practitioners. In Malaysian organizations, interest in these new concepts is low. Thus, this study is conducted to examine the relationship between GIC (green human capital, green structural capital and green relational capital) as important predictors into BS. Hypotheses were tested based on data collected using mail survey to managers of SMEs manufacturing organizations in Malaysia. Data collected from 168 managers was analysed using PLS approach. Results show that green structural capital (GSC) and green relational capital (GRC) is significant and positively impact on BS. However, relationship between GHC and BS is insignificant. Further, GSC is the greatest factor of GIC towards BS. This paper also provides implications and limitations of the findings.
