Abstract:

Green IT has been around in Malaysia since 2009. However, the level of Green IT acceptance among Malaysians is still progressing at a slow rate and this is as an alarming situation. Green IT practice has been studied across the globe. Nevertheless, limited studies have been conducted to investigate the current practice of Green IT in Malaysia. Therefore, this study was carried out to identify Green IT practice in the organisation. A total of ten IT executives were interviewed to achieve the research purpose. The findings indicated that only 35 Green IT-related practices were implemented by the organisations. Thus, it was concluded that the implementation of Green IT practice in Malaysia was still in the expansion stage. The findings of this study are useful for government agencies to measure the level of Green IT practice in Malaysia. Moreover, the findings will assist organisations in their strategic planning in order to get the full advantage of Green IT practice.
