Grid Energy Storage For Gas Micro-Cogeneration As An Element Of Prosumer Energy Development In Poland

Abstract:

The article presents the possibilities of gas micro-cogeneration application in buildings with various power and heat demand profiles. It shows the limitations related to the sizing of gas micro-cogeneration systems. In the aim to eliminate or reduce part of these limitations, the possibility of using grid energy storage for gas micro-cogeneration systems has been indicated. Thanks to this, it is possible to increase the share of electricity generated in highly-efficient microcogeneration in the entire annual balance of power consumption in the buildings. It has been shown that grid energy storage can reduce power purchase from the grid by 75-100% in single family houses, terraced houses, and guesthouses. Also, the possibility of increasing the share of heat produced in highly-efficient micro-cogeneration in the entire annual balance of heat consumption in the buildings was discussed. These activities provide an opportunity for the development of the prosumer energy market in Poland.
