Hardware Implementation of Psychoacoustic Model for Real-time Audio Data Hiding Application

Abstract:

Cryptography and steganography are used for secret signal transmission. In the case of cryptography, the mere fact of transmission is transparent, while the message is encrypted against third parties. For steganography, the opposite is true, i.e., the message is usually public, but the fact of its transmission is hidden. This paper shows the implementation methodology of the psychoacoustic model for the real-time audio data hiding application. The presented approach could use for hiding data in the recorded or transmitted audio signal. The psychoacoustic model is necessary to meet any steganographic/watermarking method's basic functionality in an audio cover. It ensures stealth transmission signal and its undetectability. So, the psychoacoustic model provides a lack of the hidden-signal perception by listeners. On the other hand, the psychoacoustic model provides the possibility of undisturbed hidden signal transmission through publicly available telecommunications systems providing voice transmission services, such as cellular telephony or Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).
