Abstract:
Smart city rankings represent a means for cities to improve the life quality of their inhabitants in a competitive context. Some of the indicators considered in these evaluations are related to Information and Communication Technology (ICT). However, the impact of such projects is not usually measured. This study assess smart city ranking of a few Chilean cities and evaluate the impact of three ICT Project. For this, authors, based in previous study, recalculate the smart cities indicators. The results show that the impact individual is rather low, but the impact increase considering several projects. Furthermore, to significantly improve in the ranking a substantial investment is required. This work is intended to serve as a decision tool to assist government agencies in their planning and investment promotion.
