Abstract:

Purpose: Aim of the present study is to examine the influence of Psychological Capital (PsyCap) and Work Engagement (WE) in predicting Employees Well-Being (EWB) who work in Jakarta as the capital city of Indonesia. Variables of PsyCap consist of self-efficacy, hope, optimist and resiliency. WE determine by employee’s vigor, dedication and absorption, while employee’s subjective well-being explained as the employee’s overall satisfaction in the three aspects including work, life and psychologically. Design/methodology,approach:  Quantitative research design is used in the present study. 400 employees who work at Jakarta were participated in this study. PsyCap measured by a scale developed by Luthans et al. WE measured by Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) and EWB measured by Scale developed by Zheng et al 2015. Two step Structural Equation modelling was used to analyze data. Confirmatory Factors Analysis (CFA) showed that, the measurement model of each variables are valid and reliable. Result: Result in the present study found that, PsyCap and WE significantly predict EWB with R Square 63.5 %. PsyCap show higher coefficient correlation with EWB (r= 0.587, p <0.01) in compare to the relationship between WE with EWB (r=0.260, p<0.01). Therefore, to ensure employee well-being, it is important to promote self-efficacy, hope, optimist and resilience among employees who work in Jakarta. Not only that, employee’s dedication, vigor and absorption toward their job also can predict employee’s well-being.
