Human Capital And Human Development In Romania

Abstract:

Inequality, together with the lack of opportunities regarding growth and social mobility, indicate the fact that the Romanian investment in the human capital is not as efficient as it should be; thus, the result takes the shape of both stagnant poverty and low economic productivity. What about the Romanian situation concerning the development of the human capital? In order to provide a suitable answer to this question, the parameter of human development will be used (IDU or HDI). The latest Report of Human Development (2010) situates Romania on the 50th position out of the 169 countries taken into consideration on the basis of HDI (Human Development Index); the value corresponding to Romania is 0,767
