Abstract:
The main goal of this research is to understand how Human Resources Management (HRM) practices relate to performance and innovation in tech firms. We analysed four firms operating in the Information Technology sector in Portugal. A qualitative multiple case study methodology was used, and data collection included documentary information analysis, and semi-structured interviews were held with HRM and innovation-related functions. The main results revealed that there are sector-specific HRM practices, and some propositions concerning the IT sector were identified. Contributions for the HRM relation to innovation and performance are discussed.
