Abstract:
Whenever there is a disaster, it is critical to provide affected people in need of assistance with the necessary assistance such as shelter, food and non-food items, medicine, and water, as early as possible. Humanitarian logistics significantly affect the effectiveness and efficiency of humanitarian interventions. There’s' 'are several successes and failures in the operation of humanitarian organizations in IDP's camp in Borno State, Nigeria, due o Boko Haram insurgency, which are yet to be ascertained. Despite the rise of cash-based efforts, the importance of products transportation, logistics, and supply chain remains unattended to, particularly in the early stages. As a result of the Boko Haram insurgency, many citizens have lost their homes, and a significant number of aid movements within the state have emerged. However, as the frequency of destruction and their complexity rises, the obstacles these organizations confront during a relief effort increase in tandem, and success factors are also challenged. Aid organizations must identify and priorities the aspects that might improve the efficiency of their supply chain. This study aimed to review success and failure elements in Boko haram disaster operations by humanitarian logistics movements in Maiduguri of Borno State. To address the aim of the study, a quantitative research design was adopted where questionnaire was developed and distributed online to the NGOs in Maiduguri Borno state. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis by SPSS software. The study result indicates that pre-occupation with the response, uncertainty, work pressure, and high stress are the three significant factors affecting the humanitarians' activities. On the other hand, agile humanitarian supply chain, risk and need assessment, coordination, and collaboration with other relief agencies are the top leading key success factors of humanitarian organizations operating in Maiduguri IDP's camps. It was concluded that factors affecting the humanitarian activities in Maiduguri IDP’s camp are the main human factors that affect the success of humanitarian logistics and challenge the system.
