Impact Factor Analysis of Aircraft Maintenance Personnel Based on HFACS Framework

Abstract:

Human factor is the most contributing factor for aircraft accident and incident, aircraft maintenance personnel unsafe acts is one of contribution factor for human factor error. However human error or unsafe acts behavior could also affect by other factors such as external environment, organization influence, unsafe supervisor, and precondition of unsafe acts as the state in Human Factor Analysis and Classification System (HFACS). This research aims to study the root cause of unsafe acts in Aircraft Maintenance Personnel using Human Factor Analysis and Classification System (HFACS) Framework. Using PLS-SEM to exploratory the positive impact from each External Environment, Organization Influence, Unsafe Supervisor, and Precondition of unsafe acts to unsafe acts of Aircraft Maintenance Personnel, a quantitative questionnaire survey distributes to 150 respondent of aircraft maintenance personnel. The result of this study, the precondition of unsafe acts has the biggest impact on unsafe acts. The condition of the working environment with no noises, smells, and better lighting is important to prevent unsafe acts of aircraft maintenance personnel. Adequate tools and routine group briefing are important to ensure that aircraft maintenance personnel ready for the assigned task. Dedicated hangar for painting and investment for special tools needed to perform enhance maintenance could help to prevent unsafe events.
