Abstract:

With the advancement of technology, social media show positively and negatively influence the student academic achievement particularly student in higher institution. The increased number of social media account show that teenager mostly spend their time in social media. Thus, this paper will discuss and assess the impact of social media usage in e-learning environment towards student academic achievement in higher education institution. Previous study revealed, some negative impact of social media towards student academic’s achievement however student who know on how to beneficial use the social media will show positive impact to their academic achievement. Social media could be a tool or learning aid for them in improving their academic by joining online group learning, virtual meetings and video conferencing to communicate with expert within their field. In discovering the impact of social media, the literature survey has been used. The published and unpublished work has been digging out through online platform to know and understand the impact of social media towards student academic achievement.
